Mission Statement
Our mission is to educate, empower, advocate, and provide social services to underserved, impoverished, and disadvantaged youths and their families via afterschool programs, financial literacy, computer literacy training, job readiness training, referral/job placement, poverty reduction efforts, substance abuse intervention, Music, and Arts programs.

Our Vision
To continuously serve growing disadvantage communities irrespective of race, ethnicity, creed, nationality, sexual orientation, sexual identity, sex, religious affiliation, belief, or nationality. To empower low-income families and immigrant communities to become self- sufficient through the provision of a comprehensive array of services focused on economic development, community revitalization, and social needs; thus enabling local individuals and institutions to build key elements and fully form part of a vibrant society. To Formulate and mobilize comprehensive and innovative programs by combining corporate resources with community needs via charitable contributions, voluntarism, employee involvement with the key focus on individual and family development. Over time, the North Shore Learning Center will sustain a learning environment that will be an invaluable resource to young people, aspiring mentors and the community at large.

The North Shore Learning Center is a joint project of World Association for Community Empowerment, 501– C3; and Second Chance Youth Empowerment Project; 501 –C3; located on the north shores of Staten Island, New York; working diligently to meet the social needs of inner-city youths and families living in poor and under-served communities.


Our dedicated team works hard year round to impart education via information sharing, hands-on training, workshops, and seminars in hopes of empowering low-income and immigrant families to become self-sufficient. Our comprehensive array of programs and services are essentially designed to foster hope and promote personal growth and development.
